May09Art

I used watercolor for the bricks (Trans. Orange) and the shadows a combination of Verditer Blue, Brown Madder and Mineral Violet… I used gouache on the Palmetto tree, and the visible fronds.  I don't think this paper likes watercolor much, the paper buckled pretty dramatically, it did not do that on the previous page where I used very little water with the gouache only image. I didn't get the depth of color I was hoping for, but I wanted to see how this paper worked with transparent watercolor.  I took this photo in Savannah Ga in February at the Urban Sketchers sketch crawl there.  I took lots of shadow photos that day, the sun was intense and the shadows dramatic.
