I bought a new Toshiba laptop this year with Vista on it.... Vista was and/is such an annoying slow operating system I tried to have it taken off and XP put on my laptop but it couldn't be done... I was told by the folks at Toshiba that I needed to accept Vista and get over it.... so I packed up that laptop and but it in the closet... I'm over it... I'm going to buy a Mac, after 35 years of using Microsoft products I'm done... I moving on to something else... now I just need to decide what I want a Mac Book Pro or an iMac? Anybody have an opinion?

We got Beau a t-shirt at Palmetto Moon, put it on him tonight and he was NOT pleased, he rubbed and rolled and tried his best to get it off... and finally sat with his back turned to me with his ears pulled back... a sure sign of Beauregard unhappiness... so we took it off of him. I'll try it on Gracie later tonight.

Didn't use one of my 'good' skies.. painted a couple of new ones... for trees later... so this was my first practice tree... I like how it turned out for the most part. my branches need work... but I like the greens I got tonight... I'm glad I went thru all the mixing work before hand.

This was fun to do, the grandson got a kick out of reading it in the mirror. I was reading today the Leonardo DaVinci wrote like this is all his journals and sketch books so I thought I'd give it a try.
PS - Your kids might like to see this too... and try it themselves . Just print it out and hold it up to the mirror so that you can read it too.

Looked like rain all day today... but it never actually rained. Got a bit of housework done this morning, and the new Futon/sofa put together and set up. Hit the range for some shooting, lunch, then shopping at Lowes for some lamps and light bulbs. Since I found out all florescent bulbs are made in China and toxic if you break them... no more of those for our house.

Thank you Rita... Wow this is truly amazing. Now I'm supposed to give an acceptance speech... and thank all the little people. I think my Mom and Dad did an amazing job raising me and my brothers. My younger brother works in a gallery and is an accomplished artist. I'm very proud of him. My older brother is a very good musician. Me I dabble in making glass bead, and jewelry, and these days I'm trying my hand at a little painting with watercolors. Of course I have to thank my great husband for allowing my to indulge in all this clutter.

Alan of On the 3rd Stone
Kate of Quicksilver Workaholic

The internet really has changed my life, and enabled me to connect with people I might never have known... including my husband, who I me over the internet in 1997. I'm feeling lucky today, I won a artist trading card from Anita Davies in England... she's such a talented artist I can't wait to see it.

So I spent the rest of the evening trying to mix greens... I actually have, and have watched Tony Van Hasselt's DVD on mixing greens... I guess I need to watch it again and take notes or play along... because I can't seem to get a decent looking green at all.
Hot, humid day ending in afternoon thunderstorms... our HD Direct TV box took a hit... so no TV for a couple of days :-( Tried doing those little weather pictures, saw someone else on EDM doing that and thought it was cool, so I copied the idea. The egrets were out in force today, they always come when it rains... must stir up the bugs and stuff they like to eat. I need to catch up on pictures of what I've been doing on the watercolor workshop CD. I'm going to try to get those done tonight.

Varigated wash, and a graded wash. This is an interesting exercise... I'm learning to control my 'drips' or let them happen to see what happens. Learning which brushes I like ... Kate's CD and instructions are so detailed and so far, easy to do.... no pressure to create a painting yet.
I've been on Weight Watches since March of this year, hit a wall lately and finding my will power tested... I want FRENCH FRIES and white bread, and Cheetos... and all sorts of food I shouldn't eat. So I drew my hand... my nails are not that odd looking and I'm not orange in color and... I have a thumb too, just ran out of paper before I could draw it... more hand drawings needed I can see :-)

Got my very first pedicure today... it was WONDERFUL, sat in a massaging chair while the gentleman gave me a pedicure... my feet don't look like they belong to me... I will be doing this again. Dinner and fireworks with Deb, Jerry, Jerry's Mom Betty, Bob and Pat... oh and a golf cart parade... I wish I'd brought my camera.

Slept late this morning, then spent the morning at the range shooting. Ron finally tried my Springfield and liked it so much he bought himself one just like mine. Went to Lowes and got a couple of Crepe Myrtles but it was too hot to plant them today, we'll do that tomorrow morning. Off to do some painting on big paper LOL

Finished my color chart tonight... I don't think this is really going to be that useful since so many of the colors aren't transparent, and so don't glaze or mix well, dry on the paper... the task of actually mixing them on the palette and then doing this chart... well I'm just not that anal about it... maybe when I retire and don't have anything else to do LOL
