Thunderstorms are rolling thru right now... guess I'll just get wet, because I've got party things to buy and need... need to go to Michaels for some art supplies.... so I'm off.

Owners of dogs and cats know that dogs LOVE kitty crunchies... I used a free video at www.jerrysartarama.com to draw this one. The site has lots of free videos on all kinds of art... There's something for everyone there.

Visited the Dr this morning for my 6 month check up... blood work and chest x-rays... he wants to do MRIs again but is going to wait until February... just checking all the usual places that kidney cancer can show up.. bone cancer and lung cancer being the most common. So far I've been clear...praise the Lord for that.

I do wish Joe knew how to swim... I learned to swim almost before I could walk... before I was 5 for sure... and I remember we taught Dick to water ski when he was 3 years old... so a 9 year old that can't swim surprised me.

I have seen wild dolphins breach... it's quite a sight to see... I read somewhere that it's mostly the males, showing off for the girl dophins... I think they do it because they can.. and it's fun... if it impresses the girls... well that's icing on the cake. Right gentlemen?

I must confess I drew a curvy line for the last 2 lines of text... after coaching Joseph's handwriting all week, I realize how sloppy mine has become.

I have enjoyed this 'scrabble' Journal that I got from TracyU... I've tried to keep to the cartoon theme in this book... and I must admit that I'm itching to start my next journal, that will be a South Carolina themed journal, where I'm planning to do more outdoor sketches.

Joe and I both kind of marveled today at how a conversation can travel from one place to another place entirely. As I was eating a carrot from our order of celery and carrots, I told him that my Dad always told me to 'Eat your carrots and you'll be able to read in the dark'... Joe added that eating carrots was why rabbits could see so well, and that he knew someone that had been bitten by a rabbit... that reminded me of the story about President Jimmy Carter, being attacked by a rabbit, and him beating it off with an oar (he was in a row boat at the time)... Conversations can take us interesting places sometimes.

I finally decided on the colors for my new box from www.naturalpigments.com

Starting on the left.. top to bottom they are
Lemon Yellow, Hansa Yellow,
New Gamboge, Quin Red, Quin Coral, Quin Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Cobalt Blue, French Ultramarine Blue, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber,
Cobalt Teal Blue, Hookers Green, Viridian, Sap Green, Paynes Grey
This box has 16 half pans, I bought addition full size pans and put 4 of them in the middle section (where a brush might go).. I put my Blues and Raw and Burnt Sienna there (I use them all alot). I still have 4 empty slots, but for now this is the palette I'm going to use.

This is the color chart that I did to go in the box. I have 4 empty spots to add colors if I need to later. For now this is going to be my Pallette.

From this chart I am rejecting the Daniel Smith colors Jadeite and Amethyst both ended up dull and lifeless. I'm adding Sap Green instead.

Did color tests to decide which colors to add to my new Plein Air Travel Pallette. I am including all of these except the last one (Light Red) I think I'm going to use Burnt Sienna instead... as it's a brighter color.

Ron out shot me tonight, but I'm still quite pleased with my shooting tonight only 2 misses out of 30 shots... a personal best for me.
I'm also very encouraged today with Joe's writing practice, I was afraid we didn't have time to really make a difference, but after just 3 days the improvement is outstanding, and I'm hopeful now he'll leave here able to read and write cursive letters... and type with all 10 fingers LOL

Ever heard the expression..."Nobody wanted to be the first to point out the Elephant in the room." Well here she is. I think I've made a lot of progress this past year learning to paint... and then I really mess one up and wonder if I should continue to pursue this or not.

My daughter is pulling her girls out of public school and going to home school them... I'm so glad she's doing that... I got Joe a 'summer activity' workbook, for kids going into the 4th grade in the fall... day one is cursive alphabet review... problem is he doesn't know how to do any of the letters... he said they taught him to write his name in cursive, but when I asked him to show me, he couldn't do it... this child made all A's in third grade... what exactly did he learn?

Ouch movie prices have gone sky high since the last time Ron and I went to a movie... $9.50 a ticket...on a Sunday afternoon... guess it'll be a long time before we go to the movies again...Ice Age 3 was VERY cute.. maybe those prices are why less than 10 people were in the theater...
