Ever have so many problems you just want to bury your head in the sand like an Ostrich and hope they'll all just go away if you don't look? Me either, I'm one of those take the bull by the horns and wrestle that sucker to the ground kinda gals.  Tonight while cooking dinner my husband came in the kitchen and said, "My sweetie is the best in the world"... and I said, "Well send her in here to help me with dinner!"  Lucky for me he also thinks I'm funny.

  1. love the ostrich - and fraid to say I'm a bit of a bury my head in the sand kinda girl - wish I wasn't but I am, you should paint a bull to represent yourself taking the bull by the horns!

  2. So funny! I love the orange ears! What a cute illustration.

I never have time to bury my head. Probably why I try to laugh- it's easier than crying.

  4. I saw a quote the other day about ostriches that went something like "When the ostrich buries his head he no longer sees his problems...nor does he see opportunities."

Your adorable sketch would be a great illustration to go with it!

  5. Thanks Laure, I wish I'd found that quote to go with my sketch.

  6. Well of course those are his eyes!!! I completely see it now. Too funny. I wondered why you had drawn a small mouse instead of an ostrich....

And I'll have to say- he's a regal and wonderful ostrich! (This by the way is my habit. I tend to see shapes instead of the entire picture. I do this ALL THE TIME!)

  7. Awesome eyes! Just the other day I thought of an incident... and shivered. My mother and I were in South Africa, driving in a private car in a game reserve. We approached a big ostrich in the field near the dirt road and watched it for a while, with the windows open. All of a sudden he came running towards the car and - thank God for instincts - I leaned over in a flash to my mother's side to close her window. The ugly thing stopped inches short of the rolling up window. Those eyes may be charming, but watch it! :)
