Spent the afternoon meeting with a By-laws committee that I'm a member of. We hashed out a good document and the chairman's lovely wife gave me a present of home grown peppers at the end of the meeting. What a wonderful gesture, my husband and I LOVE peppers.
Drawing cats tonight... couldn't do one like this in the sketchbook project book... but I liked the concept.
Used some of the stamps tonight in my handbook journal... along with a couple of the stickers I got... I'm finding doing two journals.. a stretch.. I'm not spending as much time on this journal as I usually do.
Used crayons on these two brothers... I have several books by Christopher Hart, and figured I should give him the credit for these fellows... then again, maybe he wouldn't want credit sense his look WAY better than mine.
These are some photos of my dog Crispin that I thought people might enjoy seeing, Crispin was the most titled dog I ever had, he was a good dog always willing to do whatever I asked of him.
Just fooling around with perspective... remember that fence post? I struggled with that thing... could not get the perspective right.. this house is the same.. issue... argh.
Sullivans Island Light is an odd looking lighthouse... I've only drawn it a few times... mostly because I think it is pretty plain and ugly.. Morris Island Light is a beautiful brick light house... there are so many nice looking light houses... this one... isn't one of them.... course that's just my opinion... native Charlestonians probably feel differently about it.
Went to the Berkley County Council meeting tonight with my friends that live in Berkley County... very interesting... folks you gotta get involved in local politics... bring some popcorn and a coke... it's better than the movies... REALLY!
Used the crayons again... and a bit of water... can't decide whether or not to do some that I don't color at all.... and I can't decide if I want to include writing or just pictures?
For this Fat Cat I used my Caran D'Ache Neocolor II crayons... didn't need much water at all to activate the color... I think this worked really well and I'll be using these crayons a lot on this project.
Went to Michaels and got the blocks I needed for the stamps...however, since the stamps didn't bleed thru this journal... they are visible on the back side (see the paw prints at the top of this page?).... so on the really thin paper in the sketchbook project book... I don't think I'll be able to use the stamps inside the book...

My spouse suggested I buy a book about stamping... I said... how hard can it be... I don't need a book. Then I ended up buying some clear stamps.. get them home and find out I need an acrylic block to stick them to... oops... maybe I shoulda bought the book too. Oh and Ron gets called the 'spouse' when he ticks me off. LOL
For my entire life the only government agency that wanted to know my weight, did not have a scale, and took my word for it. I must admit I LIED to the DMV at the ripe young age of 15 and have lied to them faithfully ever since... the weight listed on my drivers license is a COMPLETE fantasy. Now the government wants my DOCTOR to create digital records of my BMI. The Doctor WILL use a scale as well as measure my height and tell my age... SOOOOO I'm not really happy about this as you might imagine... I'll be having a little rebellion from this day forward... I will REFUSE to allow the Dr. to weigh me, they can check my blood pressure but there will be no official weight... I will NOT allow it... some things the government has no RIGHT to know. My real weight is one of those things... let them use the number on my drivers license.
This fence post caught my eye, while I waited for the meeting to start. Someone drew the nose and eyes on the fence post with a black magic marker... and the blob on the right is a wasp that kept coming and crawling around on the post, probably nesting inside the post hole.

Beach fences... sand dunes... I can't believe I live so close to the beach and rarely go there... especially now when it is so hot... I'm more of a winter time beach lover :-)

My little box needed some new colors and to be refilled on some others... I use a combination of half pans and tube paints squeezed into the half pans. For those that might be curious, top row left to right.. Quin.Red, Aliz. Crimson, Cobal Teal, French UM Blue. Middle row New Gamboge, Raw Sienna, Cad. Orange, Light Red. Bottom row, Burnt Sienna, Lemon Yellow, Paynes Grey, Sap Green. I rarely use the Light Red any more... and it is very similar to Burnt Sienna that I use a lot... don't know what I'd add instead... so it stays until I figure out what I'd rather have in that slot.
Just fooling around trying to draw dog and bird foot prints...used my zig pens instead of watercolor.
Day 87... this afternoon around 2:30pm the oil stopped gushing into the Gulf of Mexico... Thank God!
This is done on 300 lbs Kilimanjaro paper in a 9x12 spiral bound sketchbook. I'm pleased with how it turned out.
I know, I know... just last week we needed rain... now with rain everyday... I'm ready for a little sunshine.
On another note, everyone say a prayer tonight, the government has FINALLY agreed to let BP test the cap... everyone pray that it works... so that the healing can begin.
What a shame that NASA has been turned into... what? They certainly won't be doing any Space Exploration anymore... how much longer will they pay them for doing nothing?

Back breaking.. bathing dogs...but they all needed it... everyone smells like coconut now... they aren't that thrilled but I like it.
Spent the morning looking at desks but I couldn't settle on one I liked... so I just looked. It has been muggy all day and threatening to rain... but none has fallen yet.
I was going to have my cormorant dripping in oil... in the end I couldn't do it... I had to correct my day count on the oil spill, somehow I was 2 days short... today is day 80.
What a difference a week can make, last Wednesday I shot great... this week... UGGH.. it was ugly, very ugly.
Then I smudged my little rubber ducky's eye... no way to fix that. I copied KBlados sun to do my weather...the oil continues to gush into the Gulf.
My old mouse died, so I just had to have the latest one.... I do love it... scrolling is so easy now, as is resizing or zooming a screen... those designers at apple are so clever.
Planning on doing a Koi painting next following a tutorial by Pat Weaver found on the Daniel Smith website. I recently bought Pat's book 'Watercolor Simplified'... I'd checked it out of the library 4 times and figured it was time for my very own copy.
Great picnic this afternoon, followed by dinners at Chilis... now we'll protect our doggies from the fireworks going off tonight... they hate fireworks.
This watercolor painting was done on 300 lbs 9x12 paper based on a demo painting in Karlyn Holman's new book 'Watercolor without Boundaries'. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
I've been looking a pictures of these amazing birds...they can be up to 4 feet tall, and don't fly much, but they can if they need to. We're having record breaking lows this weekend... I'm so happy since we're going to an outdoor (all day) picnic on the 4th. Everyone have a great day and remember our founders and the sacrifices they made to start this great country.
Bears, bears and polar bears... well the polar bear sorta looks like the ghost of a bear... I was trying to do a silhouette like Janey... her's look a lot better than mine.
