9x12 Arches 140 lbs cold pressed block... watercolor tree exercise from Bob Davies Watercolor Secrets DVD.... I was happy with this up to the very end.. I think I ruined it when I added the shadows across the path..

March is out like a lamb... here in Charleston anyway. This is the end of this handbook, tomorrow I'll start in my hand made journal... I'm looking forward to it. I ordered a video and brushes on Chinese Brush painting... I'm really interested in their watercolor techniques, especially doing birds.

I find it interesting that these gulls gather in the parking lots, sometimes in quite large flocks... and sometimes they seem to be playing 'chicken' with drivers... how close can I let the car get before I have to move or fly away. My husband hates them calls them flying rats... Not having been raised here I find them beautiful and interesting to watch.

We took advantage of a gap in the rain today, to go out to the range to shoot. I've got Spring fever... my Dogwood bloomed today. Lowes had azaleas on sale, so we bought 5, and now we're thinking we'll go back and buy 5 more tomorrow... Yard work tomorrow... I love working in the yard.

My front yard is covered in pink/purple Maple tree seed pods... the tree is LOADED with them still. Can you pick out the real one taped to the page?
Well the Brown puppy has gone home with a neighbor down the street so we'll at least get to see him some. Now to find a home for the black puppy and let life get back to normal... sort of around here.

Well my sandpipers look kinda washed out on my monitor, look ok in my journal though. I've gotta dig out another journal or buy one, this one only has enough pages to last till the end of the month. I like this size (5 x8) and the number of pages in these handbook journals. Somewhere around here I have a hand made watercolor paper journal that I bought off Etsy... I want to use it next.

My grandmother was a very cool grand-mother, in the summer she worked at the swimming pools for the parks dept... so we got to go to the pool and stay all day. She took me on car trips to Warm Springs and other historic sites.... we'd pack a lunch and stop at road side picnic tables to eat.. She always doted on me and I'm positive I was her favorite (I bet my brothers and cousins think they were her favorite too... LOL)

I can tell Grace is glad to be home, she obviously didn't like being treated like a 'dog' at the kennel... she's sleeping either on my pillows in the bed or on her blanket at my feet.. she is used to being the 'Princess' around here... and is glad to be holding court once more.

The 'predicted high' was off just a little, it's 3:15 in the afternoon, and the temp is 83 right now...Ron and I rode our scooters to lunch in t-shirts :-) No jacket required. Doing the first steps in the sumi-e book, leaves and bamboo, the Nija brush doesn't work very well for this practice.... of course it might be that I need more practice at it.
