Santorini, almost our last stop on the imaginary trip to Greece. Wouldn't you know it... left my pen AND pencil at the hotel, so had to do these snippets without drawing.. thus the wonky arches. I framed with a pen when I got back to the room and made of note to buy more blue paint for my next trip to Greece. I could have used a couple more shade of blue today.

ReplyDeleteOh, be still my heart! Look at those fabulous values! As Donna said, you NAILED it! I really love the dark blues in the bottom image and how the whites just seem to glow. Most excellent work on this. Same with the top image, the whites just glow. Good job on simplifying and cropping in on both images. Two suggestions on the top image, I would extend the shadow behind the geraniums all the way to the edge where the clay pot and wall meet as it is a bit confusing without seeing the photo ref. I would also add a bit more shading to the top white section just to the left of the geraniums to push it back a bit more. On the bottom image, I would consider adding a couple of highlights to the bell so that it's a bit more noticeable. You know, maybe you should leave your pen AND pencil back at the hotel more often—these are outstanding!
