My roses and hibiscus are still blooming, I would have thought the shorter days would have had an influence on them, but the warm weather has them fooled.  My impatiens are all gone, so the shorter days was enough to make them give up for the year.  A couple of my azaleas are budding, sadly if they bloom now, we'll have no blooms this Spring.

My J.E.B. Stuart doggie, is named after the confederate general who defended (not very successfully) Atlanta Georgia during the war of Northern aggression a.k.a. the Civil War back in the 1860s.  He is NOT named after a certain X Florida governor, currently running (not very successfully) for the GOP nomination for President.  My husband and I have tickets for the Fox Business Channel GOP debate to be held here in Charleston in January.  I'll be digging out my hat to wear.

Got in another ride this afternoon, but ran in to a tiny bit of rain, and headed back home.  My last flute lesson of the year went well and got some more pointers from my teacher.  Back to work tomorrow for another short week to finish out 2015.

Took the bikes to the American Legion in Goose Creek for breakfast this morning, fun ride.  Another exciting hockey game this afternoon,  Rays shut out the Norfolk Admirals 3 to 0.

Great hockey game tonight, exciting right to the end where the Rays scored an empty net goal to seal it shut.  Ron and I took another ride today, he rode his Sporty today instead of the big trike.  We're enjoying the warm weather while it lasts.

And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.   And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David)  To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

Looking forward to 5 days off for me and Ron doesn't go back to work until Jan 4th.  Hopefully, the rain will let up and we'll have a chance to take a ride while we're off.  Looking forward to dinner out with friends tomorrow and family Christmas evening.

Rained almost all day today, and was so warm the A/C kicked on again. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I love this warm weather and even the rain.

Shortest day of the year today, the winter solstice, from now on the sun will shine longer and longer until June 21st.  Went grocery shopping to stock up for us both being home for week, not many last minute shoppers out tonight.  I guess the hard core procrastinators are waiting until Thursday night to shop.

Slept late this morning, and lazed around the house most of the morning.  Went to a Christmas party at a friends house this afternoon, it was lots of fun.  Dogs fed and everything ready for a short work week starting tomorrow...

Dec19Art

Last present taken to the post office to mail, all ready for Christmas now.  My gingerbread man, went a bit wonky that happens to me sometimes.

Took another mini-ride on the trike today, down to the landing to get pictures of it.  Ron took several shots, but he forgot that what I wanted was pictures of the trike.  Most of the photos he focused on me not the trike,  I'm blessed to have a husband that would do that.

Picked up my Freewheeler from the shop, she's got a new windshield, a luggage rack and an adjustable seat back for me.  Weather should be cold but sunny tomorrow so pictures are going to be taken, and maybe a short ride over to the beach maybe.  Hockey game tonight ended in a tie, and we lost in overtime to the Florida Everblades.

Another gorgeous day in Charleston today.  I registered for a bookmaking class with Roz Stendahl on making my own journals next Spring.  I tried to make one from a tutorial this year, but it wasn't that good.  Roz is a fabulous instructor and I enjoy her teaching style, so I'm hopeful for much better results.  It's my Christmas present to myself.

Just 10 days till Christmas, where did the year go?  Took the FLRT over to the Harley shop, she's getting a windshield, a luggage rack, and for me an adjustable backrest.

Except is isn't snowing around here, and I don't expect it will any time soon.  It has snowed here I think 2 times in the 18 years I've lived in Charleston SC and I'm ok with that, in fact I'm ok with it never snowing here again.

Took a little ride this morning, in spite of the overcast skies threatening rain.  We went to the Waffle house on Aviation Ave for breakfast,  stopped in at the Harley Shop to find out when my windshield and luggage rack will come in.  Very exciting Hockey game today, and fun teddy bear toss, filled 5 full sized pick up trucks, including the insides.   Stingrays hung on to win in a 3 to 2 squeaker.

Still haven't taken a photo of the new ride, but here's the photo from the dealership's website :-)

Ron and I and our local HOG group met at 8am this morning, and rode to Jacksonboro SC to meet up with the Pepsi 18 wheel truck and about 250 or more bikers to head to Beaufort SC to the National cemetery there for the Wreaths across America event today.  My brother Gene played taps at the National Cemetery in Milledgeville Georgia where my Father and Mother rest now.  I did a video of the young man who played taps for us today, you can watch it here. https://youtu.be/P2juDPV4_5k

Reindeers, a bit of Raw Sienna and Quin. Burnt Orange for the faces, Rotring Tikky 1.0 for the antlers, ears and noses, red .01 Micron for Rudolf's nose... easy and fun to do.
We went to Sesame in North Charleston for dinner tonight on the Tri-glide so we could gas it up for the Wreaths across America ride tomorrow.  Headed to the National Cemetery in Beaufort to put wreaths on all the soldiers graves tomorrow morning.  Park Circle in North Charleston was covered in a Christmas light display, very festive, lots of folks driving and walking around the circle to view the light show there.

Took a short trip to the East Bay Deli for dinner, then around the block to get home. My first outing on my new trike, only one mishap, popped the clutch out at the stop sign out of our street... rats! Did ok the rest of the tiny ride, didn't manage a picture because it got dark too soon. I hate it getting dark practically at 5pm these day, the shortest day is still a couple of weeks away sigh.

The Poinsettia’s association with Christmas began in 16th-century Mexico, where legend tells of a girl, commonly called Pepita or Maria, who was too poor to provide a gift for the celebration of Jesus' birthday and was inspired by an angel to gather weeds from the roadside and place them in front of the church altar. Crimson blossoms sprouted from the weeds and became beautiful poinsettias.

I got some Gold and Silver DecoColor Calligraphy pens from Dick Blick last week, I used the Gold of the title here.  I really like the coverage these pens give, but if you are sensitive to odors, these pens really stink. Enough to give you a headache if you're doing a bunch of Christmas cards.

Much as I loved the 'look' of my 883 Harley Sportster, it was not a match made in heaven.  So today, I traded the 'piglet' in, and got a 'Freewheeler' instead,  bigger motor, and more wheels.  Now I don't have to worry about balance or holding up a heavy motorcycle, still have to get comfortable on it, but unlike the Sporty, I drove this one home from the dealership myself.  Pictures coming tomorrow, when the sun is out.

Pearl Harbor day and my older brother's birthday, December 7 has always been a day to remember in my family.  Rainy and gray this morning, and blue sky and sunny this afternoon, anybody wants to watch the climate change 2 or 3 times a day, just move here.

Blogger giving me fits tonight, along with several thousand other bloggers, so hopefully this will post ok.  Did our 3rd and final Toy Run today, actually we just gave them toys and money, and because it started raining, we didn't join the ride, but went home instead.

Did a tiny bit of shopping today at Michael's, so that I could finish up some Christmas cards.  The traffic was enough to make me not want to venture out of the house near a mall for at least 6 weeks.  Forty Five years ago today, I was at Piedmont hospital in Atlanta Georgia.  The OBGYN that delivered my daughter JeAnna, was the same man who 20 years prior had delivered me at the same hospital.  Happy Birthday to my red headed baby girl.

Watched a Shoo Rayner tutorial on drawing a reindeer to do this drawing.  I love his Y-tube channel, his british accent is delightful, his instructional videos easy to follow and fun to do. Big chill today, so thankful we have a working heater now.

Got all my Christmas sweaters and tops washed today, dug out the Christmas jewelry.  Headed to Columbia tomorrow wearing my polar bear earrings, so I drew one of them. Got cool enough tonight for the new heater to kick on... working great.

No ink, no watercolor, just colored pencils on this page.  Very relaxing to do all the layers of color, watercolor paper not the best for colored pencils... but I enjoyed doing it anyway.

Get ready for 24 more Christmas themed journal pages,  I did song lyrics last year, may add a few this year.  I'll just have to see where my Christmas muse takes me :-)

Bye Bye November, long day today.  Flute lesson tonight went well learned some new notes.  Today starting at 9am and finishing around 4:30 the ARS technicians, got our new A/C heating unit installed.  He did demonstrate the heater, by setting the temp to 85 to get it to turn on,  right now the A/C in running... warm days still around for a little while.

We went to Yemassee SC for lunch today, with the Charleston Hog group.  Great ride thru lots of backroads to a great little place for lunch.  We cut the ride short on the way home, because we had dinner plans with family.  Tomorrow another Toys for Tots ride...

Today was a quiet day, did a little shopping for a few toys, for the next Toys for Tots ride on Sunday.  Got a few items from the grocery store, and joined hockey friends Laura and David for Italian Food at La Fontana a favorite place for Italian food here.  Got the paper work finalized for our new heater/AC unit... very expensive over $10,000 sigh, hopefully, this will be our last unit like this to purchase.

I feel like I spent the day in the kitchen all day, cooking, cleaning, more cooking and of course eating, then putting up left overs.  I'm thankful to be alive and able to put a nice meal on the table.  Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving today and everyday, counting my blessings.

Quick trip to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things, store closing at 6pm, and the place was packed, I don't believe I've ever seen so many people there.  Most of them like us, only picking up a couple of items so even though the line was long it moved quickly.  Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving tomorrow.

Well the A/C-heater unit gave up the ghost, not worth the money to get it going again, so we need to buy a new whole house unit.  We find out tomorrow how much this is going to cost and when they'll be able to install it.  Another cold night ahead for us...

Nov23Art

I'm afraid the cold snap tonight will be the end of my roses and hibiscus for this year anyway... the heater was needed today, but sadly refused to come on, repair man to be here tomorrow... sigh.  Going to be a cold night tonight, inside and out.

Ron and I were married on Charleston Harbor by our good friend Wanda Usher on this day twelve years ago.  Today we celebrated by attending a Toys for Tots ride, crossing over the Cooper River Bridge we had a view of where we took our vows.  Happy memories, happy days ahead with the love of my life.
