Draw something fresh, had to be lettuce, it's the only green vegetable, that is ONLY eaten fresh, never steamed, stewed, frozen... always fresh. I offer a head of lettuce.
I'm a little miffed with Blogger right now, it was 'down' all day yesterday, so my blog posts will be late... but it's back now... so I'm a happy camper now.

This is a 'natural edge' wooden bowl, my husband is taking a turning class and is learning how to make a bowl like this. I think they are beautiful... He's made some really nice things and is enjoying the class very much.

Busy evening, didn't get time to paint tonight... so I'm behind for class tomorrow... good thing I'm not getting graded. I'm doing an all day workshop with Helen Beacham on Thursday... I'm looking forward to that.

I like cute clocks, we have 3 clocks in our computer room, and of course clocks on every appliance in the house. My husband Ron, keeps all the clocks set, including the ones in the cars ... I am clueless on how to set the time on all of those devices... Does anyone know what time it is?

These bulbs full of poison mercury, are to me a symbol of BIG GOVERNMENT and how it can HARM us all with foolish regulations... some day when our land fills are full of these poisonous bulbs. The volume of them will poison the ground water... what will the politicians do then?  Say they are sorry?  Don't buy them people, and if you have them in your house DO NOT break them and DO NOT throw them in the trash. Buy LED or incandescent bulbs and come 2012 make sure you elect politicians that will REPEAL this foolish law.

We spent the day in Columbia at the State GOP Convention.  It was an amazing experience, we enjoyed ourselves and learned about how the process works.  Every day in May challenge... I'm a Fox news watcher, along with newspapers online... I must admit I got straight for the editorial cartoons.. my favorite in Scott Stantis of the Chicago Tribune... but I admire so many other artists too... that it'd take more time than I want to spend to list them all... I do check their cartoons... everyday.

These little scissors stay on my desk... and so were an easy capture for today's challenge ... draw some scissors.
Spent the evening at the Goose Creek 9-12 meeting, our speaker was Scarlett Wilson the Solicitor for Berkeley and Charleston County. She gave a very interesting talk on the challenges her office faces.

Had watercolor workshop / art class tonight, lots of exciting ideas going on in that class... have a great idea for a teddy bear... have to try it. I also tried to do a carnation... as there was one there in the classroom... didn't work out as planned..... nothing I did tonight went according to plan... maybe I'll stop planning :-)

Well here's a wonky one... perspective if off... I could blame it on the splitting headache I brought home with me from work.  Construction crews on our hall, pounding, using a circular saw to cut metal studs... noise, dust and something burning smells... makes for not a fun day at work..... of course my prowess with perspective isn't good on pleasant cheerful days either... hummmmm?

Lupine - Negative painting

Boy do I admire artists like Ms. Duffy (Karen) who can do negative painting... here's my sorry attempt at it... I got lost really quick and figured I better quit while I was ahead. I quite like the petals bottom right, but then it just got disjointed and strange looking. Doesn't help that this is a flower I've never seen in real life... working from photos is not always the best way to do something like this.
For those that care about such things this is done on 140 lbs Arches Rough 9x12 block. Colors Quin red, Quin Magenta and Hansa Yellow... all by Daniel Smith.

I couldn't deal with the coiled up cord... so I ran it off the page, and the other end back in... artistic license I think it's called.
The news is on FIRE with stories about Osama Bin Laden, who Navy Seals sent to hell yesterday.  Thank you Navy Seals... now can we get our troops OUT of Afghanistan? I hope so... enough American blood has been spilled in the desserts over there.

This soap is made of goat's milk and honey... don't know why I wrote 'bee's wax'... it's very nice soap, lightly scented and makes your skin feel wonderfully soft. I use it in the winter when my skin gets so dry from indoor heat. It is being put away for the summer now... I love hand made soap.
I'm challenging myself for May to do all the drawings LEAD FREE... no pencil allowed ... so fair warning... watch for some wonky drawings over the next 30 days.
