What a fun day we had today, great party at California Dreaming, took the dogs for a walk around the park, steak dinner,  and a new coffee pot.  Doesn't take much to make me happy :-)

Tim Scott

Tim Scott

Tim Scott candidate for Congress from Charleston SC, that's Tim's Mom... he always introduces her during his speeches... I am a big supporter of Tim and I'm looking forward to attending his victory party on Tuesday evening.

The witch on the 'Wizard of Oz' used to give me nightmares as a kid... every year it would come on tv and my Mom didn't want me to watch, but my Dad always said... she's a big girl now, she can watch it and not be afraid this year... finally, I was able to live up to my Dad's vision of courage but it took a lot of years... it was her taking Toto that defined her evilness to me, anyone who would take away a girl's little dog was EVIL.. pure evil... but I'm a big girl now and witches don't scare me anymore.

Sketched the leaf I picked today... went to a political rally tonight, have more to attend this weekend... we're in the home stretch now... I'm looking forward to next week with great anticipation.

Maple Leaf

MapleLeaf

I decided to PICK a leaf from the maple tree at work, most of the leaves on this tree are still green. I'm pressing this one to save it in my journal.

My hands down favorite Halloween candy was candy corn, loved those tri-colored candies. My grandmother would keep bowls full of them at her house all of October and almost until Christmas, in spite of me hitting those bowls hard whenever I could. I'm a type II Diabetic and so not allowed to have sugar, and mostly I don't miss it... UNTIL Halloween when these cute fellows (and the pumpkin shaped ones too) start hanging out near the check out stand... it is torture to stand in the check out line, drooling at the memory of these sweet treats...

Went to a debate/forum tonight... it was interesting to hear their plans for the county and for the state. On a personal note, I submitted 3 questions to the moderator... only 4 questions were put to the candidates... all 3 of mine were chosen...Woot. This the last debate for these candidates, heavy rain kept a lot of people home tonight.

Very lazy Sunday for us... we enjoyed the gorgeous weather and rode our scooters around town this afternoon...
Our hockey team won today, they played the new Greenville SC team and beat them 4 -2, the old team was the 'Growl', this team is 'The Road Warriors'.

SC Fair Tax -

Some people are been putting deceptive ads on TV about the Fair Tax... regardless of your political party the fair tax will be GOOD for the people (BAD for politicians.. which is why they are fighting it so hard).

The Chinese Professor...

Is this our future? Your vote matters this election more than ever.

I would have never thought I'd enjoy being a member of a women's club... I'm the new kid in the club (joined this year) but as the year draws to a close I feel really close to these women and enjoy meeting with them and talking with them. I'm so glad Charm talked me into joining the club. She is a woman that won't accept 'No' for an answer and I'm glad she didn't give up on me.

Thought I'd include the photo of the thumbnail sketch I did in my journal today... I do love James Island marshes... except for the mosquitoes... ugh they were ravenous today.

Well this turned out pretty scary looking didn't it?  I probably shouldn't have chosen red to splash on the drawing... Our team's colors are red and blue... but this turned out looking like a blood bath or something...  Don McNulty splashes paint on his drawings and his pages look fabulous, and it looks like it would be easy to do... famous last words... that will be easy I can do that LOL

I must admit I rarely agree with Juan Williams, I can't tell you how many times I've talked back to the tv when he was talking... but Juan is a thoughtful person and in my opinion an 'old style' liberal Democrat... npr is getting money from George Soros now, which is probably the real reason they fired Juan... but it still stinks that they did that to him.

Harvesting the seed pods on my impatiens and searching for a leaf to draw this evening. Not much daylight left when I get home these days, it'll be even worse when the 'time' changes... I do not like getting home from work in the dark, I think it would be nice to live at the equator, where you get 12 hours of sun and 12 hours of dark every day, all year around.

Confession time... I don't eat right... I'm trying to eat more healthy foods starting with 3 to 5 servings of fruit a day.  Didn't manage 5 today, but 4 is better than I used to do.  Next goal is 4 servings of vegetables a day... that'll be REALLY hard for me... that's why I started with fruit.  For example today, I ate no servings of vegetables at all.

My older brother and I would also dress up and go Trick or Treating... just to a few houses because we lived in my grandmothers neighborhood, so some of the neighbors didn't want to be bothered..I live in a similar neighborhood now. When my daughter was little we lived in a neighborhood that really got into the Halloween spirit decorating their houses and dressing up. One Mom was a particularly scary witch that scared my daughter silly.

Uncle Bob was really my great uncle, he was my Mother's Mother's brother. He and aunt Rose never had any children of their own, and so doted on us girls. They had a cabin near Blue Ridge Ga in the mountains... totally rugged as in no indoor toilet... yep I've used an outhouse :-) They spent their summers in the mountains and lived in Miami in the winter. I loved my Uncle Bob mostly because of the dogs and getting to go hunting with him and the local men. These days would men take a 9 year old girl into the woods at night to hunt coons? I bet they wouldn't and that's a shame because it was a LOT of fun and something I've never forgotten.... it was a simpler time before color tv or computers... yep the good old days.

Ron and I went to see "I want your Money" today.  We both really enjoyed it... some really humorous parts to this mostly serious subject.  We're off to the airport to welcome home some WWII vets that went to Washington DC today.

I'm REALLY bad at drawing people, but I won't get better at it by NOT doing it... so I figured I'd draw the folks on TV... they won't get their feeling hurt at least.

Praise the Lord, what a miracle this is. I watched as long as I could last night, and again this morning... and even now they are still bringing them up out of that mine... I can't watch without getting tears in my eyes for them and their families.

There have been people in the news lately, that have lost their jobs because of something they published on the internet.  I attended a seminar years ago where they advised DO NOT DRINK and TEXT (or POST, or SEND)... the internet is forever.. do you want your children, or grand children to see that picture, or read that comment... your boss, your future mother-in-law... if not bite your tongue, sit on those hands.. or press the delete key.  Thus ends Granny's lesson on the internet today.

Today is my darling husband's birthday... now that he's on facebook, 30 or 40 people wished him happy birthday today... he said that many people haven't done that EVER in his life.
I couldn't wait any longer, Ron voted last Friday and I've been itching to do the same ever since. Today I went and voted. We are both working as poll managers on election day so we have to vote early.. and now we have...

I just got Jerome Domurat's book 'Illustrated Watercolor Journaling class notes' what a delightful book full of his class notes.  I have the DVD he made of Gay Kraeger's class see www.watercolorjournaling.com to find out about the dvd and this wonderful book.  Thought I'd give a couple of the exercises in the book a try today between loads of laundry.

I have no idea what 'breed' of sheepdog the Warner Bros. cartoonist thought 'Sam' was supposed to be... but a more appealing guard for a flock I can't imagine. I had to add Sam to my raining cats and dogs sketchbook.

Daisy knows a trick, Mom gets a milk bone out of the dog cookie jar... holds it up and says 'Speak' and Daisy.. spins in a circle a couple of times and Mom gives her the bone... Daisy does not speak, she does a very cute spin in a circle though.

My daughter and I were horrified that the flower arrangement at lunch had 'rag weed' in it... I sure the ladies at the church think of it as pretty yellow 'Golden rod'... what's in a name?  If you are allergic to it... it's RAG weed, if not.. it's Golden rod.

Lots of pine trees between Charleston and Atlanta.  My mother's back yard is like watching 'wild kingdom'... she has all sorts of birds a fat sassy chipmunk (that comes to the window to beg), squirrels that run and chase and play... I could sit and watch out her kitchen window for hours.

Our waitress had a tiny ladybug tattooed on the back of her neck.. it caught my eye, and I almost went to flick the bug off her.. before I realized it was a tattoo.  It seems to be quite the fad these days to have tattoos and some people have quite a lot of them... I predict regret about this 'fad' someday in the future.

Tools for journal keepers... some people don't use pencils and erasers... my eraser is my best friend.. sometimes he erases a page over and over until I decide to draw something easier :-) I have tried different pens but I really LOVE the micro pens haven't found anything I like as well. I use the waterbrush in my journal, I do have travel brushes that I use as well as real brushes for actually paintings... but my daily workhorse is my Nija Waterbrush.

First pages in a new Journal... so I drew my tiny palette that I carry with me. This little Windsor Newton Bijou box is my favorite paint box. I change the colors quite a lot, but the box itself I hope to use for years and years.

Another title page... This tree didn't turn our exactly as planned but I like it ... and I'm stuck with it now.
