Went to the city council meeting tonight... but this time the Green Police won the day... the mayor will be implementing as much of the 'plan' as he can without having the city council actually vote on it. He'll use his power as the city executive... soon the Green Police in that super bowl ad, will be patrolling the streets of Charleston.

I think at least a few classes in business management should be required of Dr's... I am grateful for the good Dr's and I do have several REALLY good ones.. Dr's with rude staff, and badly run offices abound... hopefully healthcare will remain a free enterprise so that some of these fellows can go out of business... wouldn't that be something to see.... it would happen if people paid for them instead of the Insurance company or the government... but that's just what I think... that happened early this morning and I'm still annoyed.... can you tell?

Let it SNOW!!!!
It's amazing... the kids in the neighborhood are out in their yards... in the dark, building snow men and having snow ball fights... everyone afraid it'll be gone by morning... so I took a picture.

I was going to write on the black board, one of my grammar pet peeves.... people who use 'then' incorrectly in a sentence. Education these days obviously doesn't care much for grammar and writing skills... and so people say and/or write 'then' when they should have used the word 'than'. Then is used for TIME and is an adverb... so for example you might say "do step one, THEN do step two". Than is a conjunction, and is used as a comparison between two items. I like mustard better THAN mayonnaise.

Spent the morning picking up trash in the local National forest... this is the third year our Jeep club has participated... it's hard work but worth it. Got to see a Blue Heron today, and lots of Egrets... the Flamingo isn't seen here, more a Florida bird... but I added him for a touch of color.

EvanPikePhotoPainting WIP
I bought this photograph from Evan Pike evanpike.me/ last year, he was gracious enough to grant me permission to do a painting based on his photograph... I started work on the painting this week and thought I'd share what I've done so far... first 'mistake' I made was wetting the paper where the river was to be... which made it impossible to get the sparkles on the water... DARN! I'm going to continue and see what else I learn, and then with lessons learned try again. Suggestions and critique welcome.

Mei-Lan born in Atlanta, headed to China today... along with Tai-Shan from Washington DC...I hope they do well there and learn to speak Chinese without too much trouble.. Mei-Lan was taught hand signals to help her in the transition of languages...
When I was instructing dog obedience classes I used to try to get people to understand that their dog's did NOT speak English, that we needed to teach the dog what certain words mean, saying Sit louder does not convey a meaning to someone who doesn't speak English or to the dog.... hopefully Mei-Lan handlers in China will understand that she doesn't speak Chinese yet... but she'll learn.

I love this tiny Bijou Box I got from eBay in England... you can't buy them here in the states? I wonder why? The box came with only 8 colors, I tossed the tiny brush and added 4 more... for a very useful box of 12 colors.
