As a child candy corn was my favorite candy, I especially liked the ones that looked like pumpkins.... sadly the grown up me is a type II diabetic and can't have candy corn anymore... but I can draw some :-)
Woo Hoo my scooter is fixed! I've really missed riding my scooter... took it on a test ride to the gas station and the grocery store tonight... it's running just fine.
It's been a long day, the shoot tonight took a lot longer than I expected... but it was for a good cause.
I really admire Anne Watkins style, this is my pitiful attempt to do a similar painting... It's a technique that is way harder to do than it looks...
Raining started as I was driving home from work... gotta figure a way to cover my painting so it won't get wet walking into class... hum? Garbage bag I guess will work.
I'm taking a watercolor class on Tuesday nights, this is our first project, and I think I'm done with it ... will take it to class tomorrow and see if the instructor wants to tweek it some more.
Two hours in the court room last week, I spent drawing sketches of some of the police officers and lawyers there... this fellow was drawn from memory of those square jawed young officers.
I lost the link to the photo of this pumpkin... I thought it was so clever I tried to draw/paint it... Another day of laundry, chores and shopping... but finally everything is washed and the final load is in the dryer.
Hockey update, the coach DID swap goalies, and we pulled off a win... this goalie was much better in my opinion... it's early in the season yet... maybe the other fellow will learn.
Worked on my boat painting a little... between loads of laundry and trips to the store. Now we're off to the hockey game... hope the goalie does a better job tonight (or the coach lets the other goalie play).
Home made pizza for dinner, and a relaxing evening at home... We missed the opening home game last weekend, so tomorrow is the first hockey game for us... I'm looking forward to hockey season... I do enjoy the game. I'm really proud of my Grand-daughter Ashton who plays hockey.
I haven't had a bit of rest since we got back from Kentucky... today I had to go to court for several hours, then the shooting match this evening... which I totally blew by not loading my magazines with the correct number of bullets.. a really stupid mistake. Tomorrow will be the first evening that I'm home this week... I'm looking forward to it.
Learned some cool techniques tonight, I have some 'home work' to do to catch up with the rest of the class. I really like this teacher she is very encouraging.
I enjoy my computer forums and sites... but after 5 days being disconnected it is amazing the pile of email I have to go thru... what did people do before email? It's hard to remember life without my electronic master.
No matter how humble, there's no place like home... glad to be back and get a hot shower.. motel had iffy hot water, and sleep in my own bed, dogs are happy to be home too... all is well now.
We worked our butts off today, the payoff was a spectacular view from the top of a mountain. Our original choice of a trail was canceled because the group from Friday didn't get in until 3am the rain completely washed out the trail... feeling lucky we didn't choose that trail for Friday.
Lots of hurry up and wait today... followed by some really fun parts... typical of most large organized Jeep event/rides that we've attended... the weather dealt us MUD, MUD and more MUD :-)
Spent a quiet day together, no curvy mountain roads... had a good lunch together and even a nice nap... before registration this evening. I was a little disappointed that the 'packet' only contained 1 of each sticker... so that even though Ron and I both paid the same price, he got a packet of goodies, and a name tag... and I got a name tag... WTF?
Funny how much I HATE paved mountain roads... scare me silly... and yet don't mind one bit climbing straight up a mountain road covered in mud and rocks, slipping and sliding the whole way up... irrational?... probably... but there it is.
Long ride from Charleston SC to Williamsburg Ky.... the gorgeous weather and turning leaves made the trip a pleasure.

I must admit I cheated on this one... I did try to draw it several times... and finally ended up tracing it... negative space drawing is very difficult for me.
I really do know how to spell imaginary.. I also went a bit too far on this, should have quit before I got it such a mess.
I tried drawing those really close hash marks for the shadow... made my eyes cross... and it took forever... the color on this is too intense, the waterbrush doesn't lend itself to subtle color shifts... this shell is a combination of ivory, pale (very pale) pink, and pale lavenders too... I did the best I could, it's a subject I'd like to attempt again.
It is so hard to draw/paint Gracie, she is totally white, with only 3 tiny brown spots on her ears... she's a rough coat JRT and sometimes the hair on her head sticks straight up (like today)... she looks so cute when it does that...
Tonight was the first night of my watercolor class at James Island High School... it was a lot of fun, I think I'm going to enjoy it.
Lots and lots of rain today... cold too, well cold for Charleston anyway. I'm registered for a watercolor class (yet again) that starts tomorrow night... this one will hopefully NOT be cancelled.
Ron and I love Chili's and took advantage of their special tonight... I tried their new rib flavor Shiner Bock® and really liked it.
My new concealed carry pistol only weighs 12 ounces.. I wanted something lighter... it does KICK really hard, wouldn't want to shoot it a lot, but it'll be fine for what I want it for. Going out for seafood for dinner... Ron's feeling much better.
Made 1 more ring, then after show and tell, headed out of Young Harris in the drizzling rain... I was really glad that it quit fairly soon, and I had a nice dry ride home. It is good to be home.
Too pooped at the end of the day today... to even think straight much less draw something... so a doodle will have to do.

Just like on eBay, I decided I wanted this rock... and in the end I got it, because I was willing to pay WAY more than it was worth... it is a beautiful rock... this drawing doesn't do it justice.
As unpleasant as the mistaken drive last week was, this day was a joy... lovely weather, the hills of North Ga beckoned.
These are the rings I made, Tues, Wed, and today. Class for half day tomorrow then home to Charleston... It's been fun but I can't WAIT to get home.
