Today we went to Hayesville NC to visit Goldhaven Studios, to see a demo of the glass blower/sculpture in action. It was lampworking on a giant scale... very cool to see.

Spent the day, doing laundry and getting ready to 'again' drive to N. Ga tomorrow. Couldn't finish my SC journal without at least one Palmetto tree in it...

The young men attending the Citadel, can be seen around town now that school is back in session... they are all so fit and strong looking, with short hair, square shoulders and immaculate uniforms... I wonder if they know how attractive they are... even to the old women in the crowd?

This is from a photo made last fall... the trees are stubbornly refusing to change color this year... oh they are turning brown, and a few reds, but the yellows that make Fall trees so beautiful... are still not here yet.

The UN can't enforce a 15 min speech time limit... what a messed up organization... Gadhafi was right they should move out of the USA... good riddance.

My husband pointed out that I totally mirror reversed this leg drawing.. everyone's an art critic right...I didn't draw it while looking at it... thus the error... It's pretty darn ugly looking... he is going to be hurting tomorrow morning... thankful it wasn't any worse.

Spent the morning at the court house, for the bond hearing on the guys that stole my scooter... career criminals based on their records... long, long records. The judge set their bonds pretty high (they were not pleased)... so hopefully they'll stay in jail for a while.

Some time Saturday night, 2 men broke the fork lock, and removed the ignition switch on my scooter and stole it... the police woke us up Sunday morning bright and early to find out if I'd 'loaned' them the scooter... amazing police work, absolutely amazing (we had no idea the scooter was gone)....
Then on another note, long RAINY ride thru the North Ga mountains to discover I'd arrived a week EARLY for class... tail twixt my legs... long rainy ride home... I feel very foolish indeed.

The Crepe Mytle leaves are changing color, while they are still producing flowers... Fall comes slowly in the Low Country... but it is coming. We've had a long dry spell, finally got some rain today... and more predicted for tomorrow.

We got together for lunch today, at Queen Anne's Revenge. It was George Scott favorite restaurant, when he passed away last year we made a pact to eat there on his birthday to remember him.

We only had and hour at Arlington Cemetery but that was enough for me to be in tears... I was so exhausted from the walk the day before I rode the tram... and only got out to see the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier... an inspiring...place that I'd like to return and visit at leasure.

The crowds were amazing... I was proud to be a part of it...we were so far in the back we couldn't hear a thing.. so we just had fun reading the clever signs and making friends with like minded people from all over the country.

Four buses left Charleston SC around 7:30 am... stopped in Florence SC to pick up more people and then on to Arlington Va.. to attend the 9-12 March on Washington. I didn't take my regular journal and purchase a soft cover moleskine to do drawings in... (I didn't want to chance losing my 'good' journal)... I found it extremely difficult to draw riding on the bus....but here's my view of the world most of the day on Friday.
Our Future
The kids at this rally really touched my heart and give me hope for our country to continue as a free republic and not a socialist dictatorship.
Obama flew over
President Obama left town to speak to some union workers... we saw him fly overhead as we were waiting for our bus after the protest was over.
Larry Grooms
Larry will be running for Governor of SC in 2010... I will do everything I can to support him. His values and beliefs about government's role in people lives aligns with mine perfectly.
The future
The kids at this rally really touched my heart and give me hope for our country to continue as a free republic and not a socialist dictatorship.

Ron and I attended the artist's wine and cheese party and art exhibit tonight. I was really amazed at the variety of art media entered, oils, watercolors, pastels, acrylics, photography, sculpture, paper arts... and paper sculptures.. one really clever one of a flower with a hummingbird made of paper... a tiny sculpture that made me say... How'd he do that?
Afterwards Ron and I splurged for dinner and had sea food at the Crab Shack with a view of the Wapoo cut bridge and the marsh... it was a lovely evening.
Mornig Serenade
by Veronique Aniel this oil painting was chosen by the judge as the winning entry... all of her selections were oil paintings... in spite of a large variety of work entered... a bit of bias perhaps?
Distant Relations...
by Sherry Browne --- the artists got to vote, and it was hard to select just one, but I chose this Knife drawn paper collage... I thought it was extremely creative, unusual and artistic... I won't know who won until the end of the month.
Me and My paintings...
Here I am with my 2 paintings, I was pleased to see quite a lot of watercolor paintings entered in the festival, some really fine work.
