Disappointing Hockey game tonight, as we lost when Florida scored in the last 3 seconds.

Jan23-24Art

There will be a Women's Freedom Ride 2017, this time our charity will be buying a Golden Retriever Puppy and paying for it's training and care until it is given to a female veteran who needs a service dog.  I guess I need to finish scanning the pages from the ride last year.

#SBSADrawingADay homework on Friday and Saturday, clouds with crayons again.  I don't thing I'll be using crayons any more, I have to attach a sheet of tracing paper between my pages because the crayons rub off onto the facing page, which I find very annoying... so no more crayons in this sketchbook.

#SBSADrawingADay12 Used some crayons, to draw (no filling in) the two flowers on the left.  I used random colors with crayons on the flower on the left and some Rainbow colored pencils (the pencil has different color inside one pencil) for the one on the right.

Interesting exercise might be fun to try with watercolor instead of crayons.

#SBSADrawingADay11 Used some crayons, to doodle choosing the colors, by closing my eyes and taking one out of the box.  I bought these crayons in 2008, partly because of the tin box they came in for the 50th birthday for crayons, 1958 to 2008.  Until today I hadn’t used them at all.  Opening the box and smelling the aroma that transported me back to my childhood,  made the doodles on this page even more fun.

This is page one in sketchbook 42, inspired by Liz Steel I went with a large portrait format book this time.  She uses rubber stamps for her day/date and puts several days on one page.  I may not be posting to my blog everyday, but every few days when I manage to fill up a page, we shall see how it goes.

Used some colored ink (from a ColorBox) for the background, and just drew an Egret from memory.  Saw 3 of them today, in places where they don’t usually hang out (like a retention pond at the Kangaroo Gas station).
We were hoping to ride down to Edisto Beach today, but while headed down US-17 South at 55 mph my motorcycle engine, cut off.  Long story short, called the insurance company, they sent a tow truck and my motorcycle was delivered to the Harley Shop.  They are closed on Monday, so some time Tuesday I’ll find out why she conked out.

#SKNFoundations #Lesson3 part 2 Today a paint only negative shape pitcher.

We had a fabulous day today, not a cloud in the sky, temps in the 70s.  Tried out my new GoPro5, still learning how to use it now I’ve got to figure out how to download the videos, only about 20 minutes but it filled up my iPad which only has 8 gig, just about maxed out and no way to get more storage on it.  The videos actually turned out pretty good,  steady picture in spite of some rough roads, good color.  I could have aimed it better,  if we ride tomorrow I’ll tweak the camera position, might try putting it on my helmet.

#SKNFoundations #Lesson3 I’m retaking the Liz Steel Foundations class, at the same time I’m taking the #SBSADrawingADay class, I’m a little bored with the SBS drawing class, filling pages with doodles, in ink day after day gets boring fast.  This week with Liz is no ink painting the big shapes, and then maybe adding ink after.  There is a negative shape exercise this week too, and I will probably give that one a try tomorrow too.  Been really busy at work so time to paint/draw and practice my flute has been limited.  Nice weather today, hopefully continues tomorrow and I get some time in the saddle to kick off 2017.

On the Women’s Freedom Ride last Summer, based on my black motorcycle and bright yellow helmet, the other ladies nicknamed me ‘Bumble Bee’  yesterday, when we were at the Pet Food store buying dog food, I saw this darling bumble bee squeeky toy.  Not sure how I’m going to attach it to my bike, but the bumble bee will be going out west the Summer.

#SBSADrawingADay7 Today we were supposed to use marks to portray texture. I pulled out my stuffed black bear and gave it a try.

Brrr it has been VERY cold here, even had a few flakes of snow Saturday morning, still fighting a cold so I slept until almost noon, and didn’t do much after I got out of bed.  Feeling better on Sunday, got some grocery shopping done.  Time for some wine now.

Great Hockey game tonight, the Rays skunked Greenville 3 to 0. Our goalie was on FIRE, and lucky too as Greenville pinged the pipes on the goal 3 times tonight, but none of them went in the net.

#SBSADrawingADay4 I used a fountain pen, my Kuretake brush pen, and some Kuretake Calligraphy markers to do these words.  I must admit I was surprised how writing/drawing the word HATE actually bothered me emotionally.  While the word HATE is overused these days to demonize anyone whose opinion is different, much like calling someone a RACIST for no apparent actual racism. I thought these words were losing their sting.  I was wrong about that, at least on a personal level.

#SBSADrawingADay3 I used my Kuretake brush pen to draw my headphone wires, not sure if I achieved sinuous lines or not... but it was interesting to try. I have 2 brush pens that I don't use much so this was good practice. I must admit 3 days of black and white is boring me... I pre-inked some color on the page for tomorrow, so at least there will be some color on the page.

#SBSADrawingADay2 I used a dual tip TomBow marker, instead of Sharpies.  This sketchbook's paper will bleed thru if I use a Sharpie, so I used the Tombow, and cheated a little since it's water soluble.  I labeled the fruit in case you couldn't tell what they were,  I find contour hatching a challenge,  it is easier to use watercolor paint to give something dimension than to imply it with hatching.

Day 1 drawing with a fine line Sharpie of my watch, a new braided leather key chain I got for Christmas from my friend Carol and a vest extension chain (motorcycle gear for hot weather and/or fat bikers).

Happy New Year,  usually I make a few resolutions but I didn't this year at least not yet anyway.  Went for an eye exam today and found out I have cataracts,  next step a visit to an ophthalmologist and then most likely eye surgery... I'm too young for this... oh wait, I'm not too young sigh.
