#WorldWatercolorMonth final watercolor for me for July.  At our get together today, brief discussions of next year's trip to the Northeast states, Oregon and/or Washington... set me dreaming of cooler climates.

Today we presented a check to the charity representative, grand total raised $12,486.00 I was surprised how all those small donations added up.

#WorldWatercolorMonth Checking out what my colors can do mixed together.  Surprised at the Buff Titanium and Prussian blue, and P.B. with Translucent Orange love the gray that made.  I love Prussian blue for mixing greens.

#WorldWatercolorMonth how about a pine tree... used a natural sea sponge to do the pine needles... turned out ok, a little too light, but otherwise I'm happy with the effect.

I need another palette like a hole in the head (my Dad would have said), but I just got this one from England, it is smaller and lighter than my Schmincke palette, a bit larger than my Bijou (Whiskey Painters) box... I like it.  Don't tell anyone, I have another plastic palette on order from Amazon.. isn't here yet.. so more color choices coming soon.
A color mixing exercise this week, choose 6 different items and try to match the color.. I took photos of the actual specimens and what the paint looked like wet, above is the result once dry.  Least successful were the pink flower and the crepe myrtle leaf, the others are pretty close I think.

Spent the evening working on my knitting, next thing I knew it was bedtime and I hadn't done my daily journal page... so splashed on some paint and a quote.  Done.

#WorldWatercolorMonth Stylized rose, mostly because my roses hate this really hot weather and have not produced a flower in a while.

#WorldWatercolorMonth splashed some red, then some blue and yellow... smooched it around and called it done.

This is a color flow page in my new journal... part of my homework in an online class I'm taking with Vinita Pappas http://vinitapappas.com/ .

#WorldWatercolorMonth... had to paint my new hand made leather journal that arrived today.  I LOVE the soft leather, the smell of it, and added bonus it is full of Fabriano watercolor paper (a favorite of mine), and I'll be able to load more paper inside so I'll be able to use this journal for years and years.

#WorldWatercolorMonth IT'S ALIVE, we have a Hibiscus that a freeze last winter almost killed.  I cut it back and found green in the stem so I left it in the ground.  This Spring leaves appeared, but no buds and no flowers.  Yesterday it produced a small delicate pink flower and I see what may be a bud or two forming, so more flowers coming soon.

#WorldWatercolorMonth Used a quote from Diana Gessler's class and designed the page based on Koosje Koene's Draw Tip Tuesday video this week.  It was fun and relaxing to do this page.

Fantasy Journaling Class

First lesson in Diana Gessler's online Fantasy Nature Journaling class.  She chose a picture of my dog Jeb to use as a class demo... I'm so pleased my boy will be painted by lots of artists (and Diana sent me an original she painted of him).

Second lesson is flowers,  the demo included a zinnia, but I substituted my pink hibiscus on my page.  I love flowers so this was a fun page.

#WorldWatercolorMonth Sea Oats at sunset.  Finally, got my new printer/scanner tonight.  Took my hours to get it connected (because I'd plugged the USB into the wrong port), but finally it connected and is working great.

#WorldWatercolorMonth... HORROR in Nice France today.  What is wrong with people?  A terrorist killed 84 women and children in the streets with a truck.  The people of France were celebrating their Independence Day (Bastille Day) and were in the streets after a fireworks show when this coward ran them down. So sad.

New journal, current palette #WorldWatercolorMonth.  I must admit that shortly after drawing this I got rid of the Scarlet Lake and the Naples Yellow and added Mineral Violet and Green Gold in their place.

Book 39 Title Page.

Next Journal is a Global Arts Landscape 5 1/2 x 8 watercolor journal, much better paper than the Moleskines now have.

#WorldWatercolorMonth a Chinese Brush painting inspired goldfish.  So today my new printer/scanner was supposed to be delivered to the store... but... I got a call that the warehouse was out of them, they'd need to order from a different warehouse and it would be an additional 3 days, or I could cancel the order.  I chose to wait, as it was a great price, and the printer I'd been wanting for a while.

Sunset Charleston skyline... so the printer was due in on Monday, and I kept doing my daily pages for the #WorldWatercolorMonth.  Ron and I took a short motorcycle ride today, and got waffles at the Waffle House... yum.

It's been 7 days since I last updated my blog, I spilled tea on my printer/scanner.  As a result it died as most electronics due faced with water on their insides.  I went to Staples Friday evening to buy a printer/scanner, I wanted one with a large 17" scanner bed, unfortunately the one I wanted wasn't in the store, but it was on sale $100 off.  So I ordered it.... more of the story coming soon.

#WorldWatercolorMonth thought I give crashing waves a try.  I love sitting on the beach watching the waves roll in.  Morning at the dentist, still tender mouth this evening... sigh.  Hopefully, this journey is almost at an end.

#WorldWatercolorMonth Thought I'd try a colorful skyline of Charleston today. Thunderstorms hit the area around 6pm tonight, which cooled things off a bit.  Going to be hot, hot, hot this weekend.

Didn't get to finish the back half of Gracie, as her radar picked up that I was drawing her and she popped up and left the room. Went to the HOG meeting tonight, they had tacos for dinner, best part of the meeting. #WorldWatercolorMonth

Happy July 4th.... I tried using white colored pencil for the stars, thinking the wax in the pencil would act as a resist to the watercolor... but it didn't work at all.  Loose messy watercolor... fun anyway.  Off for a picnic with family. #WorldWatercolorMonth

A shortish ride this morning for breakfast.  Went grocery shopping, got a watermelon for tomorrow's BBQ at Ron's brother's house, and some beer too.  Grilled out steaks and a roast (now in the freezer to enjoy later).  Hope everyone has a great holiday tomorrow. #WorldWatercolorMonth

Bike trip to Savannah Ga today, very pleasant ride this morning down there, but the heat got unbearable after lunch, and the traffic on I-95 was a nightmare. No wrecks just too many cars trying to leave Florida,  and too many trying to go to Florida as both sides of the highway were packed as were the access roads that I assume the locals were trying to use to avoid the horrid traffic on I-95.  Once we made it to US-17 it was smooth going all the way to Charleston. #WorldWatercolorMonth

I managed the ride to and from Columbia without getting rained on this morning.  Rain started around 5pm here at the house,  we have a ride tomorrow to Savannah... rain or shine, hopefully, the rain will hold off until late afternoon again tomorrow. #WorldWatercolorMonth
