Rays played with a new attitude tonight, and managed a 1 to 0 win, they are headed to New York to finish out the series there. I have a cute bracelet full of little stylized crabs like this one. Love these little guys, good to eat too.
Tried out Koosje's negative spaces on my hand... worked great until I got to my little finger. I only tonight got to watch all the videos from this week's lessons at Sketchbook Skool. Next week should be better, and everyday in May starts Sunday.
Our local Harley dealership Low Country Harley Davidson had the bike Ron test rode in Anderson, and tonight he traded in his Ultra for the Softail Slim S with a 110 engine, ABS brakes, security system and cruise control.
LOH meeting tonight was lots of fun at the Steel City Pizza place off Dorchester Road. Ron had the Calzone and said it was fabulous, I had the pizza, and fried Mozzarella.. both very good. Anna our server was attentive and pleasant. We'll be back there I'm sure of it. Tomorrow we go to Anderson SC for the SC State Hog rally, may be a few days before I'm able to post again.
I used D'Atramentis document black ink in a Lamy Safari Fountain pen to draw a quick study of the head of a Snowy Egret in the pond at the end of Faber Place tonight on our way to dinner. Caran D'Ache colored pencils to add the color. I like the effects some people get with colored pencils, not sure exactly how they do that, I just know it is way more time consuming than watercolor, so my lazy nature prefers watercolor.
Couldn't have worked out better if we'd tried, refund from the state, covers what we owe the Feds with $200 or so left over to spend anyway we want. Ron says he'll do them next year.... I may take him up on that as I always procrastinate until the last day. I hate doing the taxes, I'd rather scoop dog poop... just saying.
When I did yesterday's page I had no idea that I'd have a flower the very next day. All three rose bushes have been covered in buds for well over a week. Came home this evening after a trip to Atlanta Georgia today, and the first thing I noticed was a yellow rose... so Yellow bloomed first, Red and peach cannot be far behind.
I have 3 rose bushes, all competing for who will have the first rose to emerge. I'm thinking it will be the yellow roses, but the peach rosebud have looked ready to pop for a week now. I'll let you know who wins.
I have driving glasses, computer glasses, reading glasses... I pretty much have glasses for everything I need to do. They are all different colors so I can tell which pair I need without my glasses on.
The pollen just gets worse and worse, as does my reaction to it. Bad enough it covers my car and motorcycle, and it covers everything outside and inside. Itchy eyes and runny noses make pollen season miserable for me and even Gracie sneezes more now.
Thunderstorms raced through Charleston this morning, upset Gracie, but was gone by the time I got up for work. Sunny and cloudless skies the rest of the day today. Morning rain supposed to be here tomorrow morning, I HATE driving in the rain.
The outdoor pests we call 'Flying Teeth', some people call them 'noseeums' are back in the Low Country this Spring. Unlike the polite, yet annoying gnats in Georgia that might get in your eyes or land on your hotdog at a picnic, these Charleston gnats BITE and they draw BLOOD when they do it. Sometimes I wonder why tourists continue to vote Charleston as the number one destination.
My collection of colored pencils has grown enough to warrant a new chart of the colors. Ron and I went on a little ride to Edisto Beach with the Charleston Hog group today, great fun and just gorgeous weather for a ride. A bit chilly on the ride down, but jackets off for the ride home.
Spent the morning at the vet's office getting shots for Gracie and Jeb, Dixie and Daisy later this week will get theirs. Got a box from Blick, with new colored pencils, I have a bunch of Pablo Caran d Ache pencils, so I thought I'd try a few of the Luminance pencils, I got a few more Pablo's too, I'll draw them tomorrow and maybe to another colored pencil chart. The burnt ochre is almost a peachy flesh color, not what I think of as ochre at all... but I think I will find a use for it.
Last regular season game, ended in a 4 - 4 tie, the Rays lost in overtime... on to the playoffs.
Great hockey game tonight, one more regular season home game tomorrow. We've gotten into the play-offs so hockey isn't quite yet over. Lots of activity in Charleston this weekend, Flowertown Festival in Summerville (big arts and crafts festival), the Cooper River Bridge Run tomorrow morning has drawn 3,500 runners to the city.... We'll be taking a ride with the HOG group out to Edisto Beach on Sunday.
